Anna Ahrenbergs Grez-sur-Loing stipendium
Deadline: Wednesday, 15 June
The Anna Ahrenbergs Grez-sur-Loing stipend promotes artistic or scientific development of professional artists, writers, musicians, composers and researchers in Gothenburg. In 2016, the stipend is targeted at writers. Applications should be made between Sunday, 1 May and Wednesday, 15 June. More information and application details here.

Tenderflix 2016 - International film and video competition
Submission deadline: Sunday, July 10

Tenderflix is an international film and video competition open to all moving image works. In its 9th year in 2016 the theme for submitting to Tenderflix is Better Living. Originally related to the design field, this notion genuinely echoes a certain, wider strive to imagine better structures for building all aspects of our life—most importantly in terms of aesthetics, economics and social relations. Read submission guidelines here.

TRADERS ­- ‘Training Art and Design Researchers for Participation in Public Space’ – is a three year EU Marie Curie research project examining different dimensions and roles of participation in public space. In the project’s closing conference TRADERS invites participants to join them in exchanging experiences and knowledge in the field of participation in art and design. More information here.

Publication: Co-design and the Public realm
Submission deadline: Friday, September 30
TRADERS invites submissions to their special issue ‘Co-design and the Public realm’, which will be published in “CoDesign. International Journal of CoCreation in Design and the Arts“. Some of the questions the issue attempts to address are: What are the consequences, tensions and challenges of co-design engaging with the public realm when that realm is increasingly entangled with private forces? What concepts, frameworks, tools, methods are used and what values are pursued to answer these challenges? More information here.

Omkonst reviews Mårten Medbo's dissertation exhibition

Mårten Medbo's dissertation exhibition 'Slutkommenter (Endnote)' currently ongoing at Galleri Thomassen in Gothenburg was reviewed by Omkonst. Medbo is a doctoral student in Crafts at HDK-Academy of Design and Crafts. The exhibition opened on May 19 and will continue until June 5, 2016. Read review here (in swedish).


Upcoming and ongoing events

Annica Karlsson Rixon, dissertation exhibition: State of Mind - Queer Lives in Russia
State of Mind - Queer lives in Russia shows two important works higlighting life conditions for lesbians and bisexual woman living in Russia: the installation State of Mind (2006-2008) by the artists Annica Karlsson Rixon and Anna Viola Hallberg, and a selection from Karlsson Rixon's photographic series At the Time of the Third Reading (2013). The exhibition is part of Annica Karlsson Rixon's PhD dissertation in Photography at Valand Academy and also part of West Pride 2016. A seminar and a lecture will also be hosted in conjuction with the exhibition: 'Queer Art in Russia' and 'The Making of a Soviet Transmasculinity'.

The Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival is an international performing arts festival taking place for ten days in August, in the great city of Gothenburg with surroundings.

What are digital practices? Despite the frequent use of the concept, it is in many cases not clear what makes practices digital, or what the specificity of digital practices is. This conference aims at providing a forum to discuss digital practices from different vantage points, ranging from considering human-to-human communication via digital means to automated machine-to-machine systems, such as developed under the heading of "Internet of Things." More information here.
