On behalf of The Society for Publication of Acta Dermato-Venereologica, we are pleased to announce that Jørgen Skov Jensen has received the Acta Dermato-Venereologica Lifetime Achievement Award in December 2023, in recognition of his important contributions to Dermatology and Venereology.
Jørgen Skov Jensen is a consultant physician, researcher, teacher, and head of the Research Unit for Reproductive Microbiology at Statens Serum Institut (SSI) in Copenhagen, Denmark. SSI is a national reference center under the auspices of the Danish Ministry of Health. |

Jørgen Skov Jensen's extensive scientific production is widely cited in scientific journals, covering various aspects of Sexually Transmitted Infections and Reproductive Microbiology. It is also interdisciplinary, including Dermato-venereology, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Gastroenterology, and Immunology. He is a pioneer and world leader within his field, with a special focus on Mycoplasma genitalium, previously an unknown bacterium he has worked with for more than 25 years. He has a large network of collaborating researchers and experts and is a sought-after and frequently engaged lecturer at international conferences.
Jørgen Skov Jensen holds various assignments in expert groups, including IUSTI, the International Union against Sexually Transmitted Infections. Additionally, he actively contributes to the European STI Guidelines Project, where he is the responsible author for the guidelines on M. genitalium. For his efforts, he has received several awards and acknowledgments, to which this Acta Dermato-Venereologica Lifetime Achievement Award now can be added. | |
