Equestrian sport is in general associated with multiple possibilities for injury and the competitive sport in particular can be classified as a risky sport.
A recent study showed that riders who often or always wore a safety vest suffered significantly fewer spinal injuries and had significantly fewer injuries per 1000 riding hours than riders who did not wear a safety vest. Researchers suggest, based on the results, there should be an extension of the general helmet requirement and a requirement to wear safety vests in show jumping in general. In eventing, this is already mandatory.
This is one of the reasons why we at Rider’s Position have entered a cooperation with Protequi, a Swedish based company that is in the forefront of developing protection gear for equestrian riders, not only focusing on the upper body but also the lower body parts.
By using the Protequi Jacket and/or the Protequi Pant you will feel protected and safe without this impacting your comfort or movement in any way. A good thing is that the protection gear from Protequi does not affect your position in the saddle. When you feel more confident, you can focus more on improving your position in the saddle, and thus you will have a better riding experience.
